Queer Veterans Project tells the stories of LGBTQ+ service members in the US military, stories that have often been hidden or erased in history. We are committed to creating visibility for the complexities of serving while queer and building a platform for seeing LGBTQ+ veterans in their present.
We started this project, in part, because we were curious about why queer people chose to enlist in the US military despite its poor track record of inclusion and, in part, because we wanted to work against pervasive homophobia and transphobia in our society.

- ongoing work to interview and photograph queer veterans
- design and installation of new exhibitions
- public education initiatives that raise awareness about the lived experience of LGBTQ+ service people
